Horticultural Packaging

Qpac offer a wide range of both film and sacks for the horticultural industry. These are mainly produced from LDPE plastic in either virgin or recycled content blends and are made up from multiple layers of film, enabling different colours. The most common combination in a black inner and white outer, the black inner helps prevent germination and the white outer gives a great base for your design to be printed on.

Their versatility, moisture resistant, durability and recyclability components also make them an economical choice for businesses, helping to minimise environmental impact while maximising utility.

Types of Packaging

We offer a range of options to meet your application, from simple bottom weld or side weld sacks, through to gusseted sacks to block bottom bags, whether for fully automated packing lines or filled and stitched by hand. We also offer a range of films for use on form fill and seal machines. Unsure of what you need? Feel free to give us a call.

Packaging Options

Whether you’re dealing with sand, fertilisers, granules of plastic, or grains, our industrial bulk bags are designed to facilitate the easy, efficient handling of these materials.

Sack Style

We offer several sack styles to meet your needs including pillow, gusseted or block bottom. These can have, bottom seals, side seals or back seams to meet your requirements.

Print Capabilities

With options to print up to 8 colours both sides using process and block print, advertising your product at its best. We can offer both registered and random print options.

Extrusion

Qpac’s co-ex, multi-layer film helps to provide high strength film and bags, perfect for horticulture materials. The material can have a black inner layer that reduces the risk of germination while in storage and the light coloured outer layer provides an excellent canvas for high end print to effectively showcase your products.

Film Options

From flat film, tubular film, gusseted or flat, Qpac offers a range of film options to suit your requirements. The multi-layer construction can also help prevent germination using an opaque black inner layer, as well as providing a barrier to moisture.

Additional Features

Our packaging can include a range of additional features, adding durability and flexibility to meet your needs. From embossing for managing slip levels, to lacquers for enhanced print protection, with both a matt or gloss finish available. Slip levels can be tailored, ranging from high slip inner to help product fill, to low slip outer to allow for easy stacking.

UV Weather Inks and Films

As many horticultural products are stored outside or held in garden centres, our products can be printed using light fast inks helping to prevent ink fading or lifting. The films can include UV inhibitor additives, offering extended protection against the sunlight.

Preventing Germination

Our moisture resistant and durable packaging provides protection against sunlight helping to prevent germination, and allowing optimal storage inside or outside, without risking your horticultural products. This also supports the viability of the seeds inside helping ensure successful germination when the time is right.

Horticultural

At Qpac, we provide high end products with picture quality process print to ensure your horticultural packaging is both durable and attractive, even when stored in outdoor conditions. Our product range can provide packaging solutions for all types of horticulture goods including soil, compost, bark (play grade and landscape), wood chippings and lawn care.

Each of our FIBC options is tailored to meet specific handling, filling, and discharge needs, ensuring that you can find the perfect solution for your product transportation and storage requirements.

Frequently Asked questions

Have a question about our products or services? Here are some of the most common questions we get asked.

Horticultural films and bags are mainly made from multiple layers of LDPE which gives them their distinct and highly beneficial black inner and white outer look.

Yes, plastic film is 100% recyclable and can be recycled under code 4 for LDPE. In addition, 30% recycled material can be added to the film which is an advantage for those liable for Plastic Packaging Tax.

Not only can our packaging products prevent germination occurring whilst in storage, but they can also offer better viability of seeds, compost and soil, improving success of germination when planting. The co-ex-combination of black inner material and light-coloured outer material ensures the sunlight does not penetrate the packaging, while adding durability and longevity to support storage of your horticultural products.

Although lead time can vary depending on several factors; including type of product and if it is plain or printed, we generally work with lead times of between 4 and 6 weeks.
